2017 Deer Valley

We had the great fun of going to Deer Valley again this year for ski trip.  We ended up staying off site this year in Deer Lake Village, which was only a few blocks away from the hotel which was very convenient.  It was a 3 bedroom plus a den, so we were able to fit 11 of us into the condo (Cochrans, Zs and Korey/Gianna) with Addison and Devin sleeping on the floor in the parents bedrooms (not the best recipe for sleep when you're a light sleeper like Amy is, but she did do pretty well on the toddler blow-up mattress on the floor!)

We flew out as usual on Sunday morning, and the kids were delighted that Hilliards were on our flight as well --so Maddie and Zach switched places and the kids all had a lovely time with their respective friends.  When we got there, the older kids and Dads all went to Brighton to ski while the moms and the younger kids went to the grocery story and up to the condo to settle in.  We were excited to have Korey and Gianna join us this year - we were happy to see our cousin!

The next day, we went out to Brighton again to meet up with Touchards, Reeves, and Johnsons - Brighton is a lovely mountain that is much more affordable!  The day was one of the coldest ski days that we'd experienced in a long time, so the kids all had hand warmers in their pockets and Amy was wishing she had on a few more layers!!

We were at Deer Valley the rest of the week, and Addison continued her love affair with skiing.  The boys did amazingly well - with Zachary doing some double black diamonds and Kaleb getting into the mix on moguls (with his poles!).  We did one day of lessons for Zachary, two days for Kaleb and every day for Addison.  She was on a few blue runs by the end of the week!

Addison and Devin outside the hill

It has been 12 years since these two brothers skiied together!
On Wednesday, we went over to the tubing hill, which is always a highlight.  Addison had a blast, and the two parents stayed with her on the lower hill - we made big trains with Cochrans and Korey/Gianna.  The kids all laughed their way down the hill!

We invited John Mark and Deanna to join us at the hill

So glad that you all could come!

The big group, although we were missing the Johnsons

Tuckered out on the way to the tubing hill from skiing!

Top of Brighton - pretty!

The Zbaraschuks (both brothers) plus Kieran

And then just the Florida Zs

Zachary, John Mark, Dnana, Addison and Kaleb

maria, Amanda, Heather and Amy enjoyed skiing together for a while at Brighton

Zach in the green tackling a very steep run

Way nuts!!!

Part of the Z family - Zachary was too cool to hang out with us on the green run! :)

This is Addison's first day of skiing at Brighton - it was very cold and snowy.

This is Kaleb skiing moguls - in the black, white and red jacket

Random pictures from the week prior:

Kaleb was player of the game!
We went to Geronimo Stilton - Mouse in Space.  it was very clever with references and music that the older parents all recognized - kids were clueless but the parents were laughing quite bit!

Phrase of the week:

Kaleb and Mom were talking about the recent cold weather, and Kaleb said "Only my hair is Canadian!"

Addison and Amy were also talking about the cold and needing to wear a jacket and she told Amy "You're faking me out!"  Ha ha - who taught her "faking me out!"?

Krispy Kreme!

You can always count on Miss Jennifer to come up with some cool outings during a week off of school, and this was no different. They went on a behind-the-scenes tour of Krispy Kreme!  Seventh heaven!!

With Violet and Sarah

The kids had skating lessons on Valentine's Day, so we didn't get a chance to celebrate until the next week - which ended up being very convenient because we went out to Olive Garden with no wait at all!  We had a lovely time and then exchanged cards at home for each other.
Love this family!
We had some face paints hidden in our bathroom, only to be discovered by one of our children....who is this monster????

Addison is taking skating lessons with the boys, and she loves for Zachary to "tow" her around the ice rink!  What a sweet relationship these two have!

Random pictures:

Sarah is an older girl that Addison just adores - and Sarah is very tolerant to have Addison 'hanging' around! :)
Walking around, just chatting with his friend Evan!
And the selfies have begun...notice the big shiner on her forehead - she was proud to say that she did not cry at all when she did this while swinging on her stomach on the swing, thereby scraping her forehead on the ground!  Ouch!
Phrase of the week:  We just remembered after getting home from our Yellowstone ski trip, we made mention of the fact that Mr. Adrian spoiled Addison rotten in her earshot, and she indignantly replied, "I am not spoiled like a banana!"  Maybe not a banana, but you are still spoiled Missy!

Grandma was wrestling with Kaleb and Addison one day and she threw them off and Addison said "Well, I took my muscles to Jennier's but I brought them back so that I can take you down!!"  Ha ha, I guess your muscles are like a purse that you just "take" around with you! :)
