Animal Kingdom

Amy took the day off a few weeks ago to accompany the kids on a field trip to Animal Kingdom.  It was a fairly cool day - quite lovely to be out there compared to the heat of summer!

The adventure is about to begin!  In front of the tree of life!

These monkeys were fun to watch romping around their structure

These two love each other bunches and bunches!
We were there with other friends of course - Bergherms and Biris - the kids always enjoy having their friends along with them!
Although the moms were a bit embarrassed when getting onto the safari ride...Amy tried to take a picture of the group so was standing up in her row while passengers got on, which was apparently against the rules so the driver kept saying "Please sit down ma'am" but Amy didn't realize that she was speaking to her, so nope - didn't sit down!  Poor Vasti was hanging her head saying "I don't know that lady!"  As you can see, the picture didn't turn out as envisioned other than capturing Vasti and Jennifer's faces! 😊

The cool weather was perfect for the safari - tons of animals were out and about - including this precious baby hippo in the back of this picture beside the larger hippo (there are three hippos)

We are just missing Zachary - we miss you buddy!
Amy agreed to take the kids on a whirl-a-gig - almost whirled her stomach right out of her mouth!  Ha ha ha - it wasn't that bad, but it did go in a lot of circles!
Apparently this tree of life is the best place to take a picture because it keeps cropping up in all of our pictures!  The first of these pictures is just a family shot but the second with our big thumbs up......is because of the new stroller that we got!!!!  Addison is 5 - certainly big enough to walk but she inherited Amy's tired knees and legs and feet and always wants to be carried, so rather than have to lug her around all day, we decided to take the stroller (easier to keep track of her and take our stuff around as well).  Anywho - our old red stroller has been broken for years and is horrific to push - it gets stuck all the time and is super hard to steer, but we kept it because it seemed silly to get a new one for our last kid....but finally at the previous SeaWorld trip Amy decided that she couldn't bear it any longer and got a new one and this one was SO MUCH BETTER - so easy to push!  It was a dream come true! :)

We had the distinct pleasure of going over to the Ngs place for Friday dinner one evening recently.   They served us arapas, which were like pita pockets and they were delicious - along with sauteed zucchini, it was delicious!  The kids had a lovely time playing, and were very comfortable seeing as the Js were there as well.  Addison and Elin really do play so nicely together.

Sweet little friends

While Kaylee, Kaleb, Eric and Keenan hung out over here
Speaking of Elin and Addison - they are in Pre-K together on Mondays and enjoy being together.  It is a small class and they have lots of fun - although the ABC Show and Tell is a lot of work for Mommy each week! :)

And one last special outing that Addison got to do - she went with Jennifer one morning up to Blue Springs park where the manatee were! There were several hundred that day, and it was again a nice cool day to be out there in the park!

Evan, Addison and London.  Addison does love her London!
And to wrap up our week - Addison came out of her room wearing her ballet dress one morning, along with a few "inserts" into it.  Gotta love it - this girl is never dull! :)

SeaWorld Fun & A Birthday!

January is the month that we get to celebrate Grandma's birthday!  Happy birthday!  We had fun celebrating, and included Jeff and Niesha (before baby Sadie arrived) and Ivalee.

Celebrating a special lady!

We got our annual passes again for SeaWorld this year and we've been a couple of times over the past few weeks - once on MLK day with the Cs and then they had "bring a friend" in so we spent a fun-filled day with Bergherms on a Sunday.  It was busy, but the group had lots of fun.

Can barely see them, but Addison, Evan, Zachary, London and Kaleb are all in there!

She was so excited to take a picture wit the penguin!

Before we went to see the real live penguins!
When we went to see the dolphin show - on a VERY cold morning - Zachary insisted on sitting down near the stage in the splash zone....

And he definitely got wet!
The swinging boat - London is ready in the back with her arms up in the air like she just doesn't care!

Sweet family - sweet times!

Roller Coaster behind us - Kaleb is big into roller coasters now!

Thumbs up for phone at seaworld!

Zachary wasn't feeling great one day - this was after he had the flu and his energy just hadn't come back yet.  Poor kid dragging around SeaWorld wasn't the top of his fun chart that particular day

Addison and Kaleb on the Shamu Roller coaster

The Carousel is always a fan favorite of the little ones!

Daddy was out of town, so it was just us!

Life's irony - why is a 5 year old pushing another 5 year old in her stroller!  Addison takes after her mother, she just doesn't like to walk and it is easier to keep track of her and carry all of our stuff so we have kept the stroller.....for now.

Three-high dog pile at Sweet Tomatoes afterward

Pretty as a picture outside of church!

If you look closely you can see that as the football team shakes hands with the opposing team, Addison has decided that she is a part of the team and is out there slapping hands.

9 years ago - Blake and Zachary splashing puddles at Jennifer's house - they had so much fun!  They were drenched when they were done, but they still remember this day!
Amy has decided it is time now that the crazy of the pre-Christmas season is done to start running again.  Painful to say the least - but a little easier when you have such a cute little running partner!  Addison decided to come with Amy on her bike - so she would bike alongside and do circles through driveways etc - it was fun to have her along!
Thumbs up!

Sadie Aravis!

We are super excited to share that our cousins Jeff and Niesha have had their little girl Sadie Aravis! She arrived on January 30th  and was 6 lbs 10 ounces, 20 inches long.  She has a full head of black hair, and is just so precious!  Congratulations to becoming a Mommy and Daddy!

Over the past few weeks, we have had a lot of other fun things going on that we'll try and give a recap on.  The first is a birthday party at Rebounderz (trampoline playground) and then later at Planet Obstacle - this is kind of an all-activity gym that has ropes courses, bumper cars, foam pits, trampoline areas, Ninja Warrior obstacles etc.  It was so fun, the kids of all ages had a blast!  Happy Birthday Maddie and Jonathan!

Maddie's birthday at Rebounderz - A birthday "cake" of donuts - yum!

Zachary doing a front flip at Planet Obstacle - he's hard to see in the picture

Addi and the foam pit

Addi, Jonny, Evan, Kaleb and Ethan at the bumper cars

And the ropes course!

Zachary on this slide thingy (so descriptive, right?) that hauls you up and then you let go and slide down

She's brave and she's ready!

And up she goes!
Kaleb on the ropes course

Happy Birthday Jonny!
With January comes the annual men's ski trip - and Amy holding her breath as she remembers when Karis broke his leg 5 years ago.....It was a smashing success with tons of fun, and no injuries!  We missed Daddy very much of course though!  He is standing below third from the left.

They were bushed - although we're sure that this picture just "may" have been staged! :)

Meanwhile back at the homestead we had some fun - the kids went on a field trip to Wonderworks (the "upside down house") - always a good time!

Ouch!
Huge bubbles
The kids have recently received Legos for Christmas, and so the family has all joined in on the fun of sitting down and doing the Legos with the kids.  Fun times!

There are even girl legos now!
