Jiu Jitsu Anyone?

Addison has done karate for several years simply because it was convenient location where she was doing gymnastics but we wanted to switch over to jiu jitsu and a Gracie Barr jiu jitsu place opened up and we gave it a whirl.  It was great for teaching the kids about how to handle bullies, and very clearly how to handle yourself in a defensive manner both standing and if you are on the ground.  It was exactly what Amy was hoping for, so Addison (along with Erik and Elin) have joined the classes there now.

We had the fun of having Hollands over one weekend to go tubing and hang out - the weather cooperated and we had a lovely time out on the water.  Let's do it again soon!

And dressing up!  Elin, Addison and Blake

Kaleb had the fun chance to go to Top Golf for Evan's birthday - it is always fun to celebrate a friend's next year of life!

Some snuggle time with big brother - rarely happens so Mom needs to get a picture of this for sure!

Back to School Boo Blues

The Zs have an end of summer tradition for Addison -- chocolate camp!  This year is no different and we gathered a group of 11 kids and off they went!

While the parents wandered over to get some yummy ice cream!

And afterwards the kids played at our house for a little while

It is hard to believe (stop this madness!) but we have a friend whose oldest is headed off to college.  We have known David literally since he was born - love this family so much - we can't believe he is headed off to High Point and soon this will begin the trickle of kids heading off!  Noooo!!!!

Zach, David, Kaleb and Evan

The church always puts on a back to school bash, so Addison, Elin and Erik headed over there for a little while to enjoy the water festivities.

Before we all took a deep breath, and started back to school.  Zach and Kaleb are in high school now, so it is just Addison and Amy driving to school every day (boo hoo!) although we are enjoying some girl bonding time to be sure with our daily devotions, reading through American Girl Doll life lesson books and just talking.

11th grade, 9th grade and 5th grade.
This cannot be, they are growing up way too fast!
First day of High School (Amy did insist on driving him the very first day!)

Look who was there welcoming kids back to school -- our very own Pastor Jennifer!

Excited to be in Ms Fernandez' class, and two seats away from her bestie Michael!

That weekend, we had the family get together for Addison's birthday.  Grandma made an amazing cake - making a parkour cake!

Thanks Grandma!
May God Bless you in Mighty Ways on your 11th Year of Life Sweet Girl - we love you!

Sadie always enjoys going out on the soccer field when she is here, so it is always a highlight.

Last Lazy Days of Summer

Kaylie stayed until August 9th, so we tried to savor last few days of summer with her with a few last fun events!

The first is that we went to the Camping World Stadium for the exhibition games from the International Cup.  We were able to get a couple of tickets through work for Kaylie and Kaleb, Zach went with a friend, and then Mom, Dad and Addison had the cheap seats, second row from the very top of the entire stadium!  Fun was had by all, regardless of where they sat however.

Look how close they are to the field!

Whereas we were at the very tip top

The cement wall behind us is the very top of the stadium 😂

What a pretty sunset!

After the game, Zach rode home with his friend whereas the rest of us piled into our car and then sat.....and sat....and sat... as there was a fire beside the one parking lot entrance and with the road blocked off, there was no way to get out.  It took a good 90 minutes for us to get home which was a bit unexpected!

That Friday, Kaleb and Kaylie went to the Edible Education one day teen cooking camp and learned all about japanese food and making sushi.  Kaylie described trying to make the sushi rolls like trying to stuff oversized body into tight pants! 😂

Kaleb made social media post as part of the cooking camp - his 15 seconds of fame!

We finished up our theme park adventures by spending the day at SeaWorld and then a day at Epcot.   We did every single theme park with the exception of Universal Studios (we did the Islands of Adventure but not the Universal Studios side).
Love the three of walking holding hands!

Love these roller coaster pictures with all of our expressions!

At all of the theme parks there were lines of course, and the kids kept themselves playing this arm/hand game called "ninja" while Amy read her kindle.  Thank goodness for imaginations to keep oneself busy!

While we were at Seaworld, we did every single roller coaster as a group with the exception of Manta - Addison decided that it may be just a little too much for her so we walked down memory lane by going to feed the stingrays while K&K went on Manta.  Super fun, even Amy did it!

The new standing roller coaster was behind us in this picture

A must-see at Seaworld is of course the Shamu show - so we were able to catch that show.  Kaylie and Addison sat down in the front of the stadium....you can imagine how wet they got! 😄

Super soaked!

Nod to Zachary's younger years and his beloved Elmo!

What a gorgeous sunset!

We were able to go to Epcot as well (very hot that day!).  We did quite a few of the rides as well as going to the Elsa and Anna meet and greet.  Addison was delighted, although she held Kaylie's hand so tight that she almost squeezed it to death!

She is even standing funny, she was nervous but thankful for her cousin holding her hand!

And of course there were other things filling in the other days - such as boating, trips to RDV to play tennis, trips to Publix where she developed a slight crush on the bagger named "Will"

I love Will - secret admirer!  What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas when your auntie does a blog 😜

Right before Kaylie headed back was Addison's actual birthday.  We went out to Kobe's that night for supper along with cake, and Evan/Sam popped over to say happy birthday!
Evan's phone has "Happy Birthday Addison" on it -so sweet!

Auntie Kelli decorated her door much to Addison's delight.

And some coconut cake to blow candles out on!

Having Kaylie here for the summer was a blast - she was super fun, insightful, helpful around the house (cooking and babysitting) and taught the boys all about how to interact with teen girls.  It was a sad day indeed for us when she had to go home - we miss you sweet girl!

Dropping her off at the airport - she is travel savvy and handled it like a pro!
