Braces & Dude Perfect

Addison has inherited her mother's very small mouth, and has had multiple teeth pulled already to try and make room for the adult teeth -- but our dominos came to an end recently of trying to make room by pulling baby teeth and the dentist recommended that it was done to do "Phase 1" of braces to try and re-arrange the teeth in order to make room for her adult teeth to come in.  We may end up needing to pull some adult teeth, but this will give us time for her mouth to continue to grow and expand before having to make that decision.  She will have the braces on for 9-12 months and then they will come off until all of her adult teeth are in, and then they will determine if they need to put Part 2 of braces on and whether any more need to be pulled.

All proud of her new braces - she got multiple elastic band colors on them!

She was very excited to get them on, but the next day when she felt the pain of braces, she wasn't too sure!  Thankfully after the initial "ouchies" they have been a non-issue after that.

In other exciting September news, the boys got to go to a Dude Perfect tour show with Karis.  We got as many of the box suite seats as we could, so ended up with 8 tickets - Karis and our 2 boys, Bergherm males, and then 2 Bonds.  We had other friends the Hillmons in the box as well, so that was fun to at least know the other folks there.

This is the picture of Karis and the boys.....can you tell?!   Ha ha - picture taking in the dark apparently isn't their forte!

Addison didn't enjoy being left out of the fun, so we went to the Cheesecake Factory with the moms of all of the families who went - so joined Jennifer/London, Sheri, Corey and her daughter Calleigh.  We had yummy food and a good time!

Thanks for a lovely evening ladies!

We have started to work on the renovations in our bonus room - starting with the fireplace.  We did a brand new natural gas fireplace, new stone around the fireplace and a new hearth/mantle.  It turned out very well and we've used it already!  We have a lot more to do in that room, so once we get the "bar" area re-done, we will be repainting the room as well which will be nice.

This was the original fireplace area

It was Evan's birthday in August, but they waited for a little while to do his actual birthday party and they had it at Aquatica - all three kids ended up going, so they just had a blast with everyone - thanks so much Evan!

Even the big boys got to join in!

First Wedding Shower

Amy's cousin's daughter (what does that make it, first cousin once removed?  Second cousin?  Who knows these things!) -- Kelsey is getting married in October.  Once again Covid strikes, so instead of  having a large wedding in October she has made it just immediate family and close friends (which we understand and support her caution -- but man, we will be so glad when Covid is done wrecking the normal course of life!!).

Anyway, she had a bridal shower at the Tea Room Experience -- it was a lovely room - so perfect for a small gathering - it was a private room.

This was Addison's first wedding shower, so she was beyond excited!  Only to discover that she doesn't like tea - totally cracked Amy up! 😂 Amy didn't like tea either normally, but they had a very mild cinnamon tea that was quite tasty!

Congratulations Kelsey - we wish you many years of wedding bliss!

All ready for her tea!

Look at all of those tea cups!

Lovely little pastries - yummy - including cucumber sandwiches

The layout of the room

They even had tea hats that you could try on (praying that there weren't any lice in those hats!)

After the tea party, we headed over to Addison's soccer game at XL Soccer World and Karis and Zachary met us to bring her clothes, and Zachary was so sweet he gave both Mom and Grandma big hugs - melt a Mom's heart for sure!

Induction and Orlando Children's Church

Addison and Kaleb still are part of Adventurers and Pathfinders, so we just had Induction for the new members.  It is just such a blessing to have large clubs with so much talent.

Kaleb's Pathfinder group
Kieran and Kaleb are part of the Color Guard, and they walk in for the formal events for the clubs with their flags -- always fun to see them!

So handsome!
For Addison's Adventurers, they also did an honor after the Induction about teeth, and our new Pastor Matt Smith's wife is a dental hygienist.  She did a great job, and called for volunteers so Addison was able to go up and hold the "tooth" for the audience called out their guesses.

Marching in with Miss Elin

Everyone confuses these two if they aren't together!

Forest Lake Church youth pastor takes the youth group to Orlando Children's Church -- this is an outreach for under-privileged children.  It was such a neat experience - Zachary and Addison both went with Amy and we made sandwiches, candy bags, name tags, painted nails, played games etc.

Zachary played soccer with the kids

And in a random picture, the recent shuttle launch we were able to see from our house - so we ran outside to watch it in the air -- very cool!

Labor Day and Random Acts of Kindness

For this Labor Day we decided to lay low and just hang around home (because who doesn't prefer to sleep in their own bed really!?) and with Delta having such a surge in Orlando we wanted to limit our risk if we'd gone to a resort (because it would stand to reason that you'd be at the pool the whole time right!?)

On Sabbath, we headed out to the beach - it was lovely weather, and a smaller group (Js, Cs, and then our respective parents also all came, so they had a nice time visiting together as well)

Our family group plus we had Blake with us so that Zachary had someone to hang out with.

So blessed to have Mom with us!

On Sunday we went boating, and for the very first time Amy got out on the kneeboard!  It was quite a feat to get up, she has never done it before but she managed to get up!  And then the following days her arms were sore as all get-out! 😂

With the Delta surge, the hospital nurses are stretched incredibly far so the hospital decided to do Random Acts of Kindness.  Amy and her partner Josie had a group of 10 people that we put together 3 separate events for about 6 units -- we took 4 Rivers BBQ, B's Cupcakes, drinks, free lunch boxes, and a Jeremiah's gift card for ice cream!  Yummy!

A great group!

Our close family friend Evan B had a birthday and they went to Aquatica for the afternoon.  All three Zs went, so they had a blast for the afternoon!
