A friend reminded me lately that I had been slacking off in posting updates on my blog (thanks Stephanie!) so I am going to do my best to catch up on October. The slacking starts to turn severe when we are away on the weekends, which is what happened twice in October - the first weekend away was when we went camping at Hannah Beach up in Jacksonville. Such a fun place to go in the warm weather time when you can enjoy the beach!
This time we had Johnsons, Cochrans, Reiners, Putts and the Zs. It was a perfect weather weekend, and we got an extra site so that we'd have room to just hangout with some space, so it was really a relaxing weekend with games, fires, beach - what more could you ask for!

The campers! |
With the extra site that we had, the kids enjoying dragging dead palm fronds out of the bush to burn. Nothing much more fascinating than the fire!
Zachary didn't have anyone his age this time, but he is old enough that he can hang out playing with the other men - so Spike Ball is always a fun game for the men!
 |
Even Amy played Spike Ball before Zachary came and rescued her to swap out! |
Another big hit was the hammock. Kaleb got a hammock recently for a gift and this was his first time using it. He was super excited to be about to hang it up!

Kaleb enjoying his hammock - first time!

and the other kids enjoyed it too! |
One of the other highlights of the weekend for all of the kids was Mr. Tim's "One Wheel" - it is kind of like a skate board but it has a motor, and a large wheel in the center of the board that you balance on and your weight then makes the board go forward or backwards. Pretty cool stuff!

And he has it! |

While Kaleb learned out on the beach (soft landing if you don't balance quite right! :) |
 |
Addison always wants to try everything out as well, although she didn't have enough time to master it, she still had fun with Mr. Tim walking along with her to keep her balanced! |
We headed out to the beach Saturday afternoon - it was partially overcast, so the weather was just perfect temperature. There was kite flying, boogie boarding in the water, sand castle building, and wrestling!
 |
I think Dad is still big enough to win this tussle! :) |

Flying a kite! |
One of the ladies, Erika - brought all of the moms this super cute little mugs with warm socks and fall candy in them - so sweet of you! The mug says "thankful" and such truth - we are blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to come away and spend time with friends, family and nature!
Early October, FLEC had a record breaking school fundraiser - and each day if the classes raised enough they would either get a small party (for the younger kids) or spirit days for the older kids. There was lots of pressure in the family households with the kids all texting each other to try and get people to donate!

The school mascot is a black panther and he came out for the balloon party! |
 |
And the pizza party! |
 |
Addison and a friend raised enough to get a stuff panther of their own! |
 |
And a pirate party! |
 |
Love their fierce little faces! |
 |
Yikes, these guys are scary! |
 |
And Kaleb's first spirit day was crazy hair day! |
And in a totally random discovery, Amy was looking through old pictures of the kids when they were young and came across this picture.....and realized that the lady holding Kaleb up on the balance beam is none other than an athlete that competes on American Ninja Warrior - Meagan Martin! Amy went back and found other pictures of her at this gymnastics class, and sure enough, she used to live here! So funny - Amy showed the kids the next day and they immediately recognized her and were wowed that she used to teach Kaleb gymnastics! It is the Z brush with someone semi-famous now (she is very well known on American Ninja Warrior, and she also models).
