And School Begins!

After a very  long summer break in which the boys' school did construction to double the size of the classes (amazing how much bigger they are!), they have finally started school - much to Zachary's dismay.

Zachary in Mrs. Lowry's Grade 3 Class
Zachary, Blake, Evan and Kaleb
The weekend before, Isidros hosted a "Big Kids" party, which left the little people in the "dumps" but Corey came to the rescue and hosted a get-together at her house for the younger siblings, much to their delight

Jennifer took her kids on a homeschool trip to Williamsburg, so Grandma came to the rescue once again and watched the kids.  She took them to the Sanford Zoo last Friday, where they enjoyed the train ride and carousel.

On Sunday, Karis rode the 30 mile Ride-for-Ronald Race and Amy took the kids to the Apopka church's "Let's Move" day - the kids ran a small race (just a lap around the track) - Zachary was about 4th in the beginning by made it up to the 2nd place by the time he got around the track - another half a lap and he could have made it that last spot but no avail.  Poor Kaleb on the other hand had someone's feet trip him up so he ended up with some road rash but bravely finished the race anyway!
Zachary is under the T in the "start" sign and Kaleb is beside the little boy in the red short, slightly behind the girl with the black hair in the middle of the picture (look for the blue glasses! :))
After the race, Kaleb holding his poor arm.
Thankfully the road rash was forgotten and they were able to have fun in the "knocker balls" where they get inside these big balls and get to bash each other!  Of course the person with the greater weight usually throws the other one off balance, so poor Kaleb got some "roll-around" time as he was thrown off his feet several times by Zachary - although it was fun times!
Ready!
Set!
Go!
Kaboom!
At the end of the play-time, the two boys then got to go to the top of the hill in their knocker-balls and roll down the hill....super fun!

Addison figured out there was face painting there and soon was begging to have her face done....and then Kaleb joined in.  Both sat very still while they did their faces.

she was not happy about this picture...
Phrase of the week:  We had people over for supper last night, and the kids were all playing when Zachary jumped into Kaleb, and some "gas" blurted out of Kaleb.  Kaleb was a bit sheepish and said "Uhh...that was unexpected!"  Ha ha - kind of serves Zachary right for jumping on Kaleb, but feel bad for poor Kaleb was he was a bit embarrassed!

Addison was so excited to see Evan when they got back this week that during the morning while they played, she said to him "Evan - should we get married?"  And he answered "Sure!" to which she then replied "Okay good, let's go tell your mom that you're going to come live with me now with my Mommy and Daddy."  Ha ha - maybe we'll brainwash Addi into thinking she has to live with us when she TRULY gets married! :)

Ponce Inlet - Labor Day Vacay

The Zs sort of seem to be starting a tradition of a Memorial Day vacation with friends, and we decided that it might be fun to do a Labor Day vacation with family and invite Amy's Mom to come along.  We chose Ponce Inlet as it is a very close beach, with no cars on it, and thus friends could drive easily over for the day.  It was awesome!  We found a condo that was literally maybe 200 yards from the beach entrance where we normally go - The Towers - and so it was very convenient.  The weather was supposed to be crummy but it ended up raining on the drive out there, and on the drive back....and that was about it for true rain.  It was a 3 bedroom condo, so the boys shared a bedroom, Grandma had one, and then Amy and Karis had one with Addison in the closet on her little blow-up mattress.  Perfect!

We'll let the pictures do most of the talking....
View from our condo balcony - literally right overlooking the beach.
Looking down at the "cool" (aka pool in Addison's vocabulary) right below us.
We love Grandma!
What a beautiful sunrise - you can see God's glory in His creation!

While the little one digs in the sand...
Playing in the water....
Burying ourselves was a major hit for the weekend....done multiple times over the course of the three days!

With Zachary and other kids around, there are always going to be sports and soccer going on, and there was a football game one day of "Kids against the Adults" and then a soccer game the next day.

Ds, Archers, Mastrapas, Hodges and of course the Z kids were at play this day.
While Sunday saw the Biris and Bergherms coming out to play..
Even Addison joined in the ball-kickin' fun!

Addison had a blast feeding Goldfish to the birds (how apropos!) and chasing the sea gulls...

Love her stance here!
Daddy got a face full of sand unfortunately in this burying project......yuck!
This is the human roller-ball - smoothing the sand out between Luke and Kaleb
Meanwhile in the condo itself we enjoyed our respective past-times during the morning and evenings before heading out to the beach.
Like mother like son.....obsessed with reading!
While the rest of us played Connect 4

In this particular video - aka "Kaleb-tube" for the "You-tube" - he shares with the camera where he is staying, what he thinks of his brother, and then his big mean brother comes and crashes the video.....oh the joys of siblings!

And as you would expect, there was just a lot of time playing with the boogie boards, Grandma's floatie, and then just digging in the sand.

Resting on the floatie in the sand....not quite as comfy as in the water!

Sadly the weekend came to an end, and we all had to go home (BOO!).  We had to attempt to get the requisite family pictures, although Addison was not very cooperative in actually being happy for the pictures!

And after a beautiful weekend, we jumped in the van and drove home in this.....
