Adventurer of the Day!

Proudly calling Mr. Kaleb to the front - Mr. Adventurer of the Day!  So excited for him!  He learned all about lady-bugs that day and was able to go to the front and to get a prize afterwards!   Good job!

We were super excited to have Gram-Z and Papa-Z come see us right as we got back from Big Sky - we arrived home on Friday, did laundry like mad-people and then they arrived that Sunday night (very late, poor folks!!).  We had an amazing time with them - Zachary monopolized Papa-Z's time playing sports all day until poor Papa-Z broke out into a sweat! :) We enjoyed Connie's baking (over-indulging is probably what we should say, but how can you resist those cinnamon rolls and orange rolls!?)  They have sadly left now, leaving us wanting more!  We can't wait to see you all again!!!

A lazy morning outside, enjoying the pretty weather!
Spying on each other through their "eye glasses"
Playing Uno!
It's Legotime!
Pictures below are just random pictures taken over the last few weeks as we wander around, enjoying each other's company and our time away from work!!!
Anyone need a doctor??
Who needs fancy toys when you have a laundry basket!?
Doing some science experiments!
Addison flipping pancakes....just like Zachary at this age!
Mommy and Addi went for a walk, complete with a backpack just in case we needed some storage space.....
Phrase of the week:  "Kaleb!"  Why is that special?  Becuase Addison has been calling him Bobby since she could talk, and now all of a sudden it is Kaleb!  NO - stay in this baby-sweet-phase forever!!!

Addison now requests as she goes to bed to sing songs, and then will sing the songs along with you - so precious - how can we slow down time!?  Some of her favorites are:
-Sunshine (you are my sunshine)
-Happy (either If you're Happy and You Know It, or Happy Family)
-Jesus (usually this is for Jesus Loves Me)
-numbers (Amy made up a song to sing from 1-20 using the abc song)
-abcs (self-explanatory! :))
-patty-cake (loves this one with the hand motions!)

Big Big Fun!

Last week, we were out in Big Sky Montana for the annual CFO Conference.  itw as SUPER fun - we forgot how much fun that mountain is as it has been so long since we've been there.  The mountain has so much variety for skiers of all levels that it was super fun (unlike Jackson Hole last year!!!!) - it was VERY warm though (think mid 40s at the base), so there were some rocks and slushy snow by the end of the day to contend with, but it was still well worth it!

Addison stayed at home with Grandma (thank you!!) and they enjoyed some quality time going to the zoo and the Science Center.  She would sing along with Grandma as she went to bed each night, having very tender moments!

Having some painting fun!
We had to get up quite early the day that we left (although let's be clear, it could have been several hours earlier, so we won't complain) but we sent these pictures back to Addison when she woke up so that we could say good-bye one more time.  The blearly, puffy eyes speak to our tiredness!  The picture of Karis brings to mind an odd event right before we took off.  Karis was sitting in the aisle by himself, falling asleep, when the flight attendant came up and said "Are you Karis?"  He answered of course "yes" and then she said "Do you have your form for me?"  He started to dig through his pockets etc instead of asking what form she wanted (wondering what he was going to give her???), so Amy said "What form do you want from him (she was sitting also in the aisle right across from him).  The flight attendant completely ignored Amy even though she asked twice, so Amy turns to Karis and tells him that he has no form, so he needs to ask her what she's looking for!?  Karis finally is awake enough to ask and asks the question to which she replies "Your concealed weapons form."  Ugh - so we don't have a concealed weapon!  He indicates as such and she just turns around and walks away!  Totally bizarre.  She called him by NAME - how did that happen?  Karis "accused" Amy of doing something when she checked him in, but she is innocent of such, so how did that happen?

Awake after being asked for his concealed weapon (from a CANADIAN - they don't even allow that!)
Speaking of odd events on the flight out.....we went through security with the Huffmans, who were also going to the same conference.  Prior to boarding the plane, they went over to get some food while we went on to our gate.  Right before take-off, David texts Amy as to what row we're in, so we answered so that Dave could get a visual on us.  Anyway, we land in Chicago, eat lunch and then start to head to our c4 gate when Dave texts Amy to say that our gate was B60.  One important thing is to realize that this is the same day that the timezone changed with the time springing forward...  The following then occurs:

Amy:  David, the marquis says that the gate is C4, not B60 and it only shows one flight to Bozeman.  What flight are you on?  Amy takes a picture of the marquis and sends the text showing that the gate is C4

David:   Going to Bozeman!  And by the way, Melody has a cookie that she bought for the boys to share! (Yeah, thanks David, give our kids sugar right before a 3 hour flight!)

Amy: Okay, so we'll walk down to C4 and verify.....which we did.  When we got there, Amy texted a picture of the gate with the Bozeman sign.  Amy then says "David, what time does your flight leave?

David:  11:15A.

Amy:  But David, that means that you're missed your flight because it is 11:40 already!  My phone says 11:40!

David:  My phone says 10:40!

Amy:  Mr. Gate Agent - what time is it?  Response:  11:40

David:  Ms. Gate Agent - what time is it?  Response:  10:40.

Amy:  Okay David, we can't be on two different times just two terminals away.  This is very twilight-ish

David:  Yeah, this is really weird.  Our flight is United 3621.

Karis:  (After looking  at his United app.....) - Mystery solved - the Huffmans are in DENVER!

Ha ha - it seriously took us about 20 minutes to run through the whole string of events - we were so befuddled because when Dave asked us what row we were in at the beginning of the first flight, he turned around and thought that he SAW Karis!  And of course as we went through security together, we thought that we were on the same plane!!

Anyway, this year it was just the Ds and the Zs staying together in the long-awaited Powder Ridge cabins, which were awesome and pretty easy to ski out from each day (although the free parking was very easy as well!).  The Js had their family with them, so they stayed with them which meant that we missed them(!) and the Cs couldn't come as it didn't match up with William's spring break (bummer!).

The boys did really well with skiing this year, with Zachary getting poles on the second to last day and Kaleb being probably only a few more days away from getting poles as well - apparently getting poles means that you have "arrived!" in the boys minds!  The following are some pictures of our time there.

Sending some love back to Addison through a picture of her mom and dad!
Zach did lessons only in the morning (Kaleb all day), so we skied with him each afternoon.
Zach and Luke having a great time.
The family shot!
Managing to get them side-by-side for a few moments (notice Kaleb's jacket is not zipped up fully as it was so warm!)
Tubing one evening (no Salt Lake City tubing, but it'll do!)
Can barely see Kaleb in his tube!
The Zs and the Ds - another fun year!
Luke and Zachary in a WWF session - wrestling, fighting - having fun!
A final family picture
This is a video of Amy and Zachary skiing down a blue - we'd go first and Zachary would follow us down

Kaleb is in this video on one of his early days....he is the boy in the middle of the pack (not the one at the back) in the blue and black jacket with the blue helmet and black pants.

On the way home, the Huffmans saved our bacon because SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, a light was left on in the van (thanks to an un-named child)....so when we got back it was dead as a doornail.  Thank heavens for friends coming back at the same time as we did!

One afternoon, the Ds were skiiing back to the house and took a wrong turn only to end up at the free parking lot.  Good thing that Amy had driven the rental SUV over there for the day, so we picked them up on our way home.....A little squished as they didn't want to climb over to the third row - good thing it was only a 5 minute drive! :)

Phrase of the week:  This week at intramurals Karis asked Addison if she was going to say hi to Marshall - she replied "No, I'm shy" - Uh oh, apparently she's heard us say that before!  We need to be careful for what she overhears!

One night Kaleb was talking about his "girlfriend" that really liked (at the time Eva), and Amy asked what happened to his last "girlfriend" Lindsay....after thinking he said "No, it is Eva....but I may go back sometime to Lindsay!"  Ha ha - the innocence of a young man, future lady-killer? :)

Blessed with Visitors

We were blessed last weekend with visits with from of our extended family members!  On Friday night, we  headed over to the Ds to enjoy supper with Grandma Marilyn and Grandpa Al - who are not only the parents of Rob, but are also the in-laws for Karis' brother Korey! (it is a tight little circle we have here!).  It was fun to see them and catch up on what has been going on in their lives.  Addison seemed to take to Grandma Marilyn - recognizing a Grandma's special tough right away! :)

Uncle Rob is always a draw for Addison - so she was happy to snuggle in with him.  We had the fun of also seeing the Ds brand new kitchen (in the background) - lovely!
The next evening, we were excited to see Amy's Aunt Ev, Uncle Ken, Jeff and Niesha (Jeff is their son).  We are lucky that Jeff and Niesha live here so that we can see them frequently!  Addison, true to form, soon saddled up to Uncle Ken (it is the tall men that she seems to gravitate towards! :))  We had a really nice visit and time together - but it always goes by too quickly!  Come again soon Aunt Ev and Uncle Ken!!!
Challenging Jeff to a game of hockey.....looks like Jeff may be winning! :)

Our normal picture is women in the back, but this year we switched it up...notice how several of us ladies can't actually touch the floor! :)

Jeff works at the Florida  Hospital church as a parish nurse, and he has become of course close to all of the pastoral staff - so at their annual retreat, he always participates in their talent show.  Jeff is known for his funny personality, and this year he really turned it up with a lipsync that is just hilarious - so funny that we are including the youtube clip for you all to enjoy as well!:)  He's a very brave man....

On Sunday, the Z-parents had fun going to the Magic Basketball game in the box seats (we realize how fortunate and 'spoiled' we are - we are grateful!) with Amy's colleagues.  It was a really fun, relaxed evening - even though they lost!

Addison continues to amaze us with how much mischief that this child can get into.  Should we be proud, or horrified?  One morning she found a tube of lipstick (Amy rarely wears any, but as put on a little on the way to the Magic game, and Addison saw her do it.....once it all it takes!)  So, the next morning, this is what Amy finds....good thing she kept is on her lip instead of the furniture!

Kaleb decided that Addison shouldn't be the only one sporting a mustache, so he joined in......sadly, it'll only be a few short years before they do start to sprout real hair - especially with the Z-men genes! :)

In the area of sports, Kaleb finished his soccer league, continuing to enjoy playing defense.  Zachary also finished his last basketball game in the league....ending it on a high note with a win!  He also got a rebound and 5 pounds!  Way to go!!!!  Next sport....skating lessons for Kaleb and Zachary is back to football.  We keep a continuous rotation of sports - a little tiring at times, but we really want to have the boys active and running around.  Zachary is a fanatical sports fan, but Kaleb declares that he does NOT LIKE sports - although he always has a good time when he plays!   Not to be out-done, Addison also got our her "throwing arm" last weekend for a little Frisbee action - turning herself ALL the way around before flinging the Frisbee to Dad!  The weather has been vacillating between cold and summer-like hot temps, but last weekend was lovely so we enjoyed a little time outdoors.

Kaleb is getting to be a good little hitter - and good for his hand-eye coordination!
Okay - so the 360 rip-rider trike is so fun even the adults do it....
We've had some later nights than normal over the past few weeks, and Addison had her vaccine shots....all leading to some very tired children.  After these pictures, we have been focused on getting them some extra sleep!

Good thing for Addison's car seat...perfect to sleep against!
Fell asleep while eating her lunch - Jenn said she even had a small piece of macaroni on her face!

Phrase of the week:

In the world of 3 kids, there are some good days, and some bad days....but rarely does Karis get so exasperated that he'll text his frustration to Amy.  This week, Addison 'broke' Karis and he sent Amy a "I've had it text" - that made her start laughing out loud at work!

Karis' text:  I have a house-wrecking crew for sale.  2 1/2 year old model with low hours.  She is strong, energetic with an amazing appetite for destruction of all closets, dollars and clothing dressers. Will consider all offers!

Amy's reply:  I'm laughing yet cringing.  Did she permanently wreck anything?

Karis:  Nothing other than my Christian experience.  Say a prayer for me.  I think that Jennifer must have slipped her some caffeine!"  (Poor Jenn, or really poor Karis!!!)

Kaleb has had some funny conversations lately - one of the things that we say when things get too loud here is that the "noise pollution" needs to stop.  Well, one day he thought it was too loud and informed us that this was "noise infection!"   Another time, we were talking about Martin Luther King day when he overhead us and asked us what was "Oman Potters day"  HUH?  How in the world does that even sound the same? :)

Addison's independent streak continues to grow by the minute - so we OFTEN hear "I do it!!!!" Getting dressed in the morning is a chore...

Zachary had a week or so in which he may have been growing, or fighting a bug, because he had several days in which his legs were hurting....he told Amy "I must have sensitive bones!"
